Lighting up an historic landmark building, Thornbury Castle
Design and Specification | Leisure
Over the past 27 years we have built a great reputation for consistently delivering high quality electrical design and installation as well as very reliable ongoing maintenance for clients located throughout the southwest.
This led to us being selected to work as the main electrical subcontractor, working under a design and build contract, on a multi-million pound renovation project for Thornbury Castle.
A bit of history
The original structure of this Tudor building, one of the only Tudor buildings to have been converted into a hotel, dates back to 1511 when Edward Stafford - the only man to rival Henry VIII's wealth - conceived it. Henry seized control of the castle when Stafford was found guilty of treason and used it for a brief romantic retreat with Anne Boleyn on their honeymoon in 1535! It is now part of the prestigious Releais et Chateaux collection.
Contemporary solutions for an historic landmark building
We installed state of the art Casambi wireless controls and Host Wave emergency lighting systems – two highly regarded contemporary lighting systems. These worked beautifully in this exceptional historic setting and delivered exactly what our client wanted.
Being involved in such an historical local landmark building project was both challenging and rewarding in equal measure but overall we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and are very proud of the work that we have done.
The newly refurbished Thornbury Castle re-opened its doors to delighted customers in 2021 and the renovation has been extremely well received.
